D4A was founded on a simple but critical observation: while the Horn of Africa was a hub for development activity, the data driving those decisions was often disconnected from the lived realities of the communities it served.
Our founder, Abdikarim Mohamed, envisioned a firm that combined international academic rigour with deep local contextual intelligence. We started as a small team of specialists in Mogadishu, driven by the belief that better data leads to better action.
Today, we serve major UN agencies, international NGOs, and government bodies, providing the clarity they need to navigate some of the world's most complex operational environments.
